Norwich City have rejected a £10m bid from Premier League champions Liverpool for left-back Jamal Lewis.
It is understood the Canaries value the Northern Ireland international, 22, significantly higher, especially as he is under contract until 2023.
He also qualifies as a homegrown player and it is believed Norwich instantly turned down Liverpool’s offer, which also included a sell-on clause.
Liverpool want Lewis as cover for Scotland captain Andy Robertson.
However, there is a determination at Norwich that they will not let any of their promising players leave on the cheap, despite the club’s relegation from the Premier League.
They are unhappy with Liverpool’s offer and feel they are not in a position where they have to sell.
Lewis made 28 Premier League appearances in the 2019-20 campaign, scoring once.
Norwich sold attacking midfielder James Maddison in 2018 to Leicester City for £20m – plus £4m in add-ons – when he had yet to play in the Premier League.
